Plan the trip

A glacier area at the head of the Senales valley in South Tyrol, reaching over 3200 metres, with a funicular running up inside the mountain from the valley floor. The altitude makes it one of the most reliable areas in Italy for early and late season snow, and national teams train here through the autumn. The valley is where Ötzi the iceman was found in 1991, on the ridge above, and there is an archaeological centre in the valley about him. The skiing is mostly intermediate on open glacier terrain. Merano sits an hour away and the valley itself is quiet German speaking farming country.
