Plan the trip

One of the few purpose built French resorts that people describe as pretty. It was built in the 1970s and deliberately rejected the concrete of its neighbours, using wood, slate and painted shutters instead, arranged along a car free pedestrian street. That street is genuinely pleasant with small children in tow. Nothing crosses it, the ski school meets at the bottom of the slope, and everything is a short walk from everything else. The skiing is comfortable and family oriented across a series of open bowls, with well protected beginner areas and a good ski school worth reserving early. It links over a col to Saint François Longchamp for extra ground. Apartments and a couple of hotels sit within walking distance of the snow, at prices well below the big Tarentaise names half an hour away.
